Shayla Blake studied at Stetson University and continued at Texas Tech University.
During this time, she studied in the studios of Geoffrey Gilbert, flute (Stetson University)
and William Westney, piano, (the Artist-in-Residence at Texas Tech University). As
an undergraduate, she was a winner in Texas Tech University’s Concerto Competition.
After achieving a Bachelor’s degree in piano performance, she completed her Master’s
Degree as well, placing 1st Runner-up in the Texas Tech University Graduate Concerto
Shayla is currently on the music faculty at Louisiana Tech University teaching piano, flute, songwriting, choral arranging and as a collaborative pianist. She has also served on the music faculty at the University of Louisiana at Monroe as collaborative pianist. Shayla Blake has directed choirs and instrumental ensembles of all ages. As a composer/arranger, her choral and piano compositions are published by Lorenz, Shawnee Press, Hal Leonard and Fred Bock music. Shayla is a volunteer Regional Coordinator for Nashville Songwriters Association International for the Northeast Louisiana area. Mrs. Blake is a busy performer and composer.
