North Louisiana Youth Percussion Ensemble Festival
2017 NLYPE Festival
The North Louisiana Youth Percussion Ensemble (NLYPE) Festival has four central aims: 1.) to provide a performing platform for high school ensembles; 2.) to promote the percussion ensemble genre; 3.) to increase students' awareness of classics within the repertoire; and 4.) to offer students/directors constructive feedback from an expert in the field.
Our guest for the 5th NLYPE Festival is Professor Kevin Bobo (Indiana University). Mr. Bobo will coach/conduct a select ensemble comprised of students from across the region; perform as a featured artist on the opening festival concert; provide critique for each participating ensemble; and present a percussion clinic.
The festival begins on Friday, March 24 from 3-5P with an open rehearsal in Howard Auditorium. At 7:30P, Mr. Bobo will be featured at the opening festival concert. On Saturday, March 25, visiting high school ensembles will perform throughout the morning. Mr. Bobo's clinic will occur at 10A. A closing concert featuring the Honors Youth Percussion Ensemble will conclude the festival at 12P.
Tickets for the opening and closing concerts as well as the clinic are $5 Adults/$3 Students with ID. Other events are free. Festival t-shirts and door prize tickets will be available for purchase.
