Louisiana Tech’s School of Design has a busy month ahead with three exhibitions; each of the following events are in the Taylor Visual Art Center and its galleries, open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The exhibitions are free and open to the public.

The BFA Graphic Design Exhibition reception will be held from 2-3 p.m. Sunday, April 25. The show will be open to the public from April 26-29.  

The Studio Art Senior BFA Exhibition runs May 3-11. The show features a multitude of works spanning mediums, including ceramics to digital art to paintings. The group describes the show as “art that challenges social standards and offers reprieve from situations that once held claim to one’s independence, including our own susceptibility to self-destructive vices.”

Titled Relapse, the exhibition is a collection of Tech’s senior artists attempting to assert their identity within contemporary society while navigating difficult ideologies and beliefs. The show features works that question social norms to prompt introspection within the viewer. Each artist presents their unique perspective to examine how personal choices can affect those around us, as well as ourselves. Each work invites the viewer to reflect on their own identity on a personal and social level. Manipulating form and function to communicate the absurdities of life to the audience, the ensemble of artists reflects on how the last several years have individually impacted their art-making processes, as well as the way they interact with others.

Finally, the MA Architecture Exhibition, May 18-21, will be the final presentations of students’ graduate architecture projects. This year, the architects speculated on proposals for a School of Biology building on the site of what is now Carson Taylor Hall. Each of the 15 students will have renderings, a model, and a film/animation of their project.
