Kaczvinsky increases knowledge on book illustration
Louisiana Tech’s director of the School of Literature and Language received an opportunity recently to investigate the way books from the 15th to 21st century were illustrated. Dr. Donald P. Kaczvinsky attended the Rare Book School at the University of Virginia, where he participated in a week-long seminar on “The History of Book Illustration.” The seminar explored the relationship between text and image in books from the 15th to the 21st century, focusing on the techniques of wood block engraving, copperplate etching and lithography. Kaczvinsky teaches a graduate course in “Research and Bibliography” for the department of English. His participation in the seminar was funded by the George E. Pankey Endowed Chair in English.
