Tech opens Faculty Recital Series

Louisiana Tech’s School of Performing Arts will kick off its annual Faculty Recital Series at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23 in Howard Auditorium, with a clarinet performance by Lawrence Gibbs, associate professor of music. Gibbs teaches clarinet and saxophone at Tech and serves as the director of the Jazz Ensemble. His recital, “From the English School,” will feature the music of noted British composers Ralph Vaughan Williams, Charles Stanford, John Ireland and Joseph Horovitz. Gibbs will be assisted by pianist Shayla Blake and soprano and fellow Tech faculty member Lisa Maxedon. The event is free and open to the public.
