Journalism professor to blog for Rowman & Littlefield Publishers
Will blog for books—or music. Dr. Elizabeth Barfoot Christian, editor of Rock Brands: Selling Sound in a Media Saturated Culture, which will released by Lexington Books in December, has been invited to write a series of blogs on music marketing for Rowman and Littlefield Publishers, Inc. And Christian, an avid blogger on her personal website, has been happy to oblige. R&L publishing group saw an increase in traffic at its blog site to a high of 10,000 per month during the summer and has responded by asking additional scholars to write blogs on topics of interest. Christian’s book explores how different genres of popular music are branded and marketed today, including a look at specific artists as well as a examining how new media has changed music sales. Christian’s first blog entry: “Don’t Call Me Stefani: The Making of a Digital Age Pop Star” takes on the rapid rise of Lady Gaga thanks to social media. It was published today at R&L’s blog site.
