Gregory Lyons, an assistant professor of music at Louisiana Tech, will kick off the Faculty Concert Series Tuesday, Oct. 4. Lyons will perform with Michael Holdiness, a percussion musician and educator from Monroe. The two will perform on a variety of instruments, including Cuban congas, American drum sets, Chinese opera gongs and Turkish finger cymbals. The program will also feature a solo work for marimba written by a French composer but inspired by the music of Argentine tango composer and performer Astor Piazzolla. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Howard Auditorium and is free and open to the public.
