English instructor has chapter published in literary arts journal
Genaro Kỳ Lý Smith, a Louisiana Tech instructor of English, has just had “The Bone Orchard,” a chapter from “The Land South of the Clouds,” published by “Kartika Review,” a national Asian/Pacific Islander American literary arts journal.
Focusing on fiction, poetry, creative non-fiction, author interviews, and art and photography, “Kartika Review” launched in 2007.
Smith studied with Pulitzer Prize-winner Robert Olen Butler for his M.F.A.”The Bone Orchard” is a dream the 10-year-old narrator has of his grandfather in a re-education camp in post-war Vietnam.
This is the seventh chapter from “The Land South of the Clouds” to be published in a journal. The eighth chapter of the novel, “Tuesday: Kill the Children,” will be published this spring in the “Asian American Literary Review.”
