Architecture professor receives medal for dissertation research

A Louisiana Tech assistant professor of architecture has received recognition from the Architectural Research Centers Consortium for his dissertation research. Dr. Pasquale De Paola received the King Student Medal for Excellence in Architectural + Environmental Design. The award is based upon criteria that looks at innovation, integrity and scholarship in architectural or environmental design research. De Paola’s dissertation, “A Question of Method: Architettura Razionale and the XV Milan Triennale of 1973,” looks at Italian Neo-Rationalist architects, especially the work showcased at the Milan Triennale of 1973. De Paola also serves as the professional curriculum coordinator for the School of Architecture. He attended the School of Architecture at the University of Naples Fererdico II, in Italy, and received his bachelor of architecture degree from Louisiana State University. He holds a master of science degree in architecture and urban design from Columbia University and received his Ph.D. from Texas A&M University. He has practiced in internationally recognized architecture firms. His research interests include Italian architectural culture, history and theory of contemporary architecture, parametric and computational design strategies, and biogenetic architecture.
