A Louisiana Tech faculty member and a graduate student had their work featured in a New Orleans photography event. Frank Hamrick, an associate professor of photography, had his work “Keep Moving” selected for inclusion in the closing slideshow presentation at the 2013 PhotoNOLA Photography Festival. Jamie Johnson, who will graduate in the spring, also had her work included in the closing event. “PhotoNOLA is a great event that brings people together, and we get to see what each other is doing,” Hamrick said. “Last year I participated in an exhibition and lecture at the local arts high school, the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts. I am happy to again be included in the festival’s programing.” The closing event was juried by Sethasak Boonchai, president of the New Orleans Photo Alliance; Richard McCabe, curator of photography at Ogden Museum of Southern Art; and Loc Pham, creative director at Cathedral Creative Studios. The festival, organized by the New Orleans Photo Alliance, occurs each December and began after Hurricane Katrina as a way to unite the community. PhotoNOLA includes portfolio reviews, lectures, demonstrations, book signings and numerous photo-based exhibitions at museums and galleries throughout New Orleans and attracts photographers, art directors, curators and photography collectors from all around the country.
