Chinese language courses to be taught at Tech
Louisiana Tech’s School of Literature and Language will offer a course in beginning Chinese in the fall quarter on Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 2-3:15 p.m.
Ziyi Jiang, a native of Xi’an, Shaanxi, China, will teach the class. Jiang has an M.A. in English composition, applied linguistics and Teaching English as a Second Language from California State University, San Bernardino.
“We are fortunate to have Ms. Jiang working with us,” said Dr. Susan Roach, Director of the School of Literature and Language. “Her training in teaching a second language and her knowledge as a Chinese native are excellent credentials for teaching this course.”

Jiang will teach Mandarin Chinese (Pu tong hua) through lessons that will include dialogue, narrative, grammar explanations and exercises. Students can their language skills through a wide range of integrated activities and will practice writing Chinese characters and learn correct stroke order. Jiang will also provide Chinese cultural notes on different Chinese festivals and cooking basic Chinese dishes.
No special permissions to take the course are required, and any level student can register for the course, which can count toward the foreign language requirement.
