Louisiana Tech’s M.A. in Speech-Language Pathology earns top ranking in state
Louisiana Tech University’s Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology program has been named one of the top SLP graduate programs in the country by SpeechPathologyGraduatePrograms.org. Of the 240 schools reviewed, Tech’s program ranked No. 29 overall and earned the highest ranking in Louisiana. SpeechPathologyGraduatePrograms.org is a self-funded online publishing group created to support those entering the field of communicative sciences and disorders by providing a dedicated resource where they can learn about graduate program options, state licensing requirements, national certification, specialized areas of practice, earning potential, and more. In achieving the high ranking, Tech’s program scored 100 percent in Praxis exam pass rates, in on-time program completion rate, and in employment rate for graduates. Tech scored 70 of 70 on its student achievement ranking and 20 of 30 on cost and affordability for a 90/100 score, or A-. The Tech program offers comprehensive training in SLP diagnosis and therapy across the spectrum of specializations and patient populations. The Speech and Hearing Center provides opportunities for hands-on experience in a clinical setting with many of those populations, but the University also partners with external clinics and facilities ranging from general practice hospitals to public schools to pediatric therapy clinics. The University enrolled a record 12,873 students for Fall Quarter. And for the seventh consecutive year, in the mid-September release of U.S. News & World Report’s 2018 Best Colleges list, Tech was listed in the report’s highest tier of “National Universities.” Louisiana Tech is one of only two public institutions in the state to achieve the ranking.
