National exhibition to make stop at Tech
Examples of the best designed book covers of 2009, as decided by the American Institute of Graphic Arts, will be displayed at Louisiana Tech’s School of Art later this month. The selections in AIGA’s annual competition represent the best work across all disciplines of communication design and strategy, as chosen by a jury of design peers. As such, they are offered as a traveling exhibition for display across the country. After careful and considered review of more than 2,300 entries, the 2010 jury of “365: AIGA Annual Design Competitions 31” selected a group of 126 examples of outstanding design produced in 2009. The jury’s selections will travel across the country to AIGA chapters and student groups during 2010 and 2011. The exhibit at Tech will last from Tuesday, Oct. 26 through Thursday, Nov. 18. On Oct. 26, Wes McWhorter, AIGA president of the NOLA chapter, will speak at 4 p.m. at the School of Art, and a reception will follow at 5 p.m. The Louisiana Tech University School of Art galleries are located in the Visual Arts Center between Tech Drive and Mayfield Street, next to the Natatorium, and across from A.E. Phillips School. The galleries are open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and admission is free. For more information please call the School of Art at 318-257-3909.
